Flood Disaster Relief Help
Many groups and people have been inquiring about helping those who have been affected by the flood waters in Louisiana and Mississippi. Parkway Baptist is a registered Red Cross shelter, but at this time we have not been called upon to be opened in that capacity. So how can you help? Right now as we are partnering with both the Red Cross and Catholic Charities, there are some things that can be done to aid in this effort.
At this moment some things that are needed are baby diapers, toiletries, NEW bath towels and wash clothes. The needs, more than likely, will change as the days go on, but for now this is what can be given to help in caring for the people who have been affected by this disaster.
You can also make a monetary charitable gift to either the Red Cross, Catholic Charities, or the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) through the NAMB (North American Mission Board) as they continue to provide aid and support to the people who have been affected by this disaster.
You may find other ways to serve and to help, but through Parkway Baptist, the above is how we have been instructed through the Red Cross and Catholic Charities to give and serve in order to meet the immediate needs for the people at the “safe house” here in Natchez.
There is one other way that you can help and that is to lift this situation up to God in prayer. Please pray for the people affected by the flooding and for those who are helping in the aid of those directly affected. As we often say among Southern Baptists, we can do far more together than we can apart. May we join in strength and in spirit to help and serve our fellow neighbors in these challenging times.
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
-“The Golden Rule”, Matthew 7:12 (ESV)
